Visit Strasbourg, France in the Fall

Located in the Alsace region of France is the most ornate city of Strasbourg.  A beautiful architectural balance of German and French. Timber framed homes scattered throughout the curving cobblestone streets and the River Ill is never too far away!

Strasbourg was one of those cities that came as a complete surprise. It turned out to be so much more incredible than I ever imagined and totally exceeded my expectations!

If all that hasn’t convinced you to visit this German border city, then these fabulous fall photos from Strasbourg definitely will!

The reason this visit to France was so special to me, was because I had taken French in High School and wasn’t given the chance to visit France with our class. It took me years, but I finally took myself to France!

I wandered alley ways, as bicycles and pedestrians passed by, as if everyone had somewhere to be, except for me! Where are you going? Why?

The Strasbourg Cathedral is the center of the city, surrounded by vendors and tours guides galore. I was looking for a boat tour, but the forecast called for rain, so I wasn’t fully committed. I wanted around the square for a bit, peeping in shops, always look for my next magnet.

The city streets were colorful, ombres and contrasts. Murals and cute cafes with outdoor seating areas, just begging for you to take a break.

The holiday decor plus the flags and plants, I think this was my favorite spot I came across while walking around the city.

Some call it graffiti, some call it art. Either way, it could be rotten and dirty under there, or covered with color and someone would still be offended. So it might as well be decorated.

Lucky for me, there were a couple murals on our Rue, I loved seeing them on our way in and out.

Patterns upon patterns upon patterns! I love the architecture, from the arches and ovals, to the bricks on the street. Each little piece small and unique, yet important enough, it makes it all so complete.

A mural to the left of our hotel front door, Hotel Patricia. Ironically, I’ve also stayed at a Casa Patricia in Cuba before. Patricia must have some deeper meaning.

I’m not sure if these are witches or if it’s the scary character in Hansel and Gretal, but they are a little creepy and totally worthy of their own photo. Of all the vendors and merchandise being sold, this was the one that did it for me.

We ended up getting on a Trolley tour, so some of the action photos are blurry. This one is the cutest restaurant with pumpkins and greenery.
