Ziibiwing Center is part of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe in Mt. Pleasant. As a Culture Center, designed and dedicated to the Anishinabek people, a celebration of history, tradition and beliefs.
Sharing the history of Keeping the Anishinabek culture alive, through captivating depictions and colorful artifacts. Walk through the interactive exhibits to hear, see and feel stories from the original people of the Great Lakes. Facing adversity, struggling to have land to live on, families were separated by boarding schools and traditions were lost along the way.
Homes were destroyed, as well as animal habitats and along with their more thoughtful way of living. Anishinabek people who weren’t recognized as US citizens until 1924, but they actually came first, long before the US settlers and colonizers.
