Accommodations

Alma College Alumni House – Smith Alumni House is a home away from home, with four guest rooms each with a private, attached bathroom. The Meyer House, is a two bedroom bungalow located one block for the Smith Alumni House. Both located near Alma College.

Camp Nomad is a peaceful retreat and great glamping experience. Affordable rates, located close to the riverside, parks and historic downtown.

Saravilla is a three-story Dutch Colonial mansion built in 1894 with a delightful taste of the Bed and Breakfast experience for everyone. Including a 1200 sq.ft. ballroom, billiard room, 24-hour guest kitchen, library, parlor, front porch and decks.

The Triangle Motel is a charming 10 unit motel built in the 1950’s on the outskirts of Alma, Ithaca, and St. Louis. Offering 3-star accommodation with a garden. Rooms are clean, nicely decorated, and the beds are comfortable.

3one3 Boutique Hotel is Alma’s only boutique hotel, accommodations feature custom designs and rooms inspired by the history of the newly renovated 125-year-old building.

Transportation

Driving Directions – Major roads – US 127/ Bus. US 127 & M46

From the north, take US 127 to Alma, 17 miles south of Mount Pleasant. Take the first Alma exit, which is Business 127. At the fourth light on Business 127 (also called Wright Avenue), turn left on Superior Street for downtown or turn right for Alma College.

From the south, take US 127 to Alma, 48 miles north of Lansing. Take the first Alma exit to Business 127, and follow this route (which becomes Superior Street) through the downtown business district. Continue on Superior Street past Wright Avenue for Alma College.

From the west, take Route 46 from US 131, about 40 miles. Turn right on Business 127. At the fourth light on Business 127 (also called Wright Avenue) turn left on Superior Street for downtown or turn right for Alma College.

From the east, take Route 46 from Saginaw, about 35 miles. Turn left on Business 127. At the fourth light on Business 127 (also called Wright Avenue) turn left on Superior Street for downtown or turn right for Alma College.

By Bus

Alma Transportation Center (ATC) provides open door public transportation which includes service to Alma, St. Louis, Gratiot County, Pine River Township, Gratiot Community Airport and other locations through our intergovernmental agreements.

Kids under 5 ride for free with their parent/guardian, youth (5-17) and adults (18-64) will have a two dollar ($2.00) fare. The senior rate (65-74) and reduced fare will be one dollar ($1.00). 75 and over (Gold Card) will ride for free. Travel with these rates anywhere in Alma, St. Louis, Ithaca and Pine River Township. Call and schedule your rides at 989-463-6016 option 1.

ATC and I-Ride (Public Transportation Services of the Isabella County Transportation Commission) have partnered together to provide service to and from Alma and Mount Pleasant. ATC goes north at 8:00am, 12:00 noon, and 6:00pm. The cost is $4.00 per ride or $2.00 reduced fare. I-Ride comes south at 10:00am, 2:00pm, and 4:00pm.

Indian Trails buses stop in Alma as part of their Lansing to Boyne City route, connecting to Chicago and St. Ignace. Call Indian Trails at 1-800-292-3831 regarding schedules, routes and fares.

Greyhound – There is a Greyhound Bus stop, call 1-800-231-2222 regarding schedules, routes and fares. Students can receive a 15% discount on Greyhound fares by purchasing a Student Advantage Card.

By Plane

Gratiot Community Airport – 8 mi., located at 3999 West Seaman Road, between Alma and Ithaca, and offers flight services to business, individual, and freight patrons. It features a 5,000 foot east-west primary runway and a 3,200 foot north-south cross wind runway. The runways handle commercial aircraft and small jets. The facility also provides private charters.

Midland-Bay City-Saginaw International Airport (MBS) – 40 mi.

Capital Region International Airport: Lansing (LAN) – 54 mi.

Bishop International Airport: Flint (FNT) – 80 mi.

Gerald R. Ford International Airport: Grand Rapids (GRR) – 100 mi.

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) – 140 mi.

By Train

Amtrak – The closest Amtrak station to Alma is in East Lansing (LNS) – 52 mi.
